White girl fro

This post is dedicated to my friend Jena. She has tons of beautiful curly hair. She told me stories about when she was little and no one knew how to take care of her hair so she frequently had the white girl fro. She has promised to give me curly hair lessons so Sydney doesn't have to go through that. Yesterday morning I was getting Sydney ready to go to the babysitter (at 5:45 am, not either one of our happiest times) we had a white girl fro moment. I was laughing hysterically at Sydney and you can see how she felt about the situation! Jena, I think it might be time for those lessons! By the way, we did not leave the house like this, the squirt bottle is our friend.

Swimming Lessons

Sydney has swimming lessons on wednesdays. She has had a new teacher these last couple of weeks that is very strict with her. She makes her do the things she needs to do whether she wants to or not. I think this will be very good for her and really help her learn to swim faster. It is a whole new world in the pool and not one she always likes! She also surprised me this week when out of the blue she said " my name is S-Y-D-N-E-Y". She actually spelled it out with no prompting from me. We have been working on letters and spelling her name but it just amazed me that she could do it on her own. She is such a smart girl!

Sydney's style

Sydney is all girl. She loves to dress up and does it all day long. These pictures are of her new favorite outfit. She is such a silly kid. I think she is going to grow up to be a fashion designer!

My stepfather

My stepfather Luis passed away 3 months ago. I loved him because he loved my mother and because he completely adored my daughter. I think that it caught him by surprise how much he loved her. He called her his Genevieve and sweet pea and Sydney loved her Tata as much as he loved her. He was diagnosed with cancer last summer and lost his battle on May 3. I was there when he died and as horrible as it was to watch it was also beautiful. To see him surrounded by the people who loved him. My mom was so brave and strong. I just really wanted to remember him today and show everyone some pictures of him and Sydney. Luis absolutely hated having his picture taken and would turn away from the camera, except when he was with Sydney. He would grumble but he would let me do it. He will be missed. My mom and I will make sure that Sydney never forgets her Tata.
