Kindergarten!

Sydney's first day of Kindergarten was today. She was sooooo excited!!! She was up and ready to go bright and early this morning. When we got to school there were about a million people there dropping off kids. It was nuts. We even had to wait in line to even get into her classroom. She posed for a couple of pictures, then found her seat. No nerves at all for my brave little social butterfly. She barely said bye when I left. I can't believe she is so big already!!!

The girls and I went to 2 really fun birthday parties in the last month. The first one was for Jake and Sam Tucker. It was a Pump It Up and now Sydney has decided that she wants her next birthday party there (I don't have very many pictures from there because my camera died!). We will see if mama can afford that when the time comes. The next party was for Miss Giada and it was at Imagination Ave and it was an adorable indoor "town". The girls had a blast at both places.

Easter was pretty low key for us this year because once again illness ruined all my plans. We had fun anyway though. We colored easter eggs yesterday and of course the Easter bunny arrived this morning! Sydney got a Taylor Swift cd, who she loves, but she then told me that now she wants Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez. What!!!! Wait a minute your only 5. I am not ready for this. We loaded up her cd onto her mp3 player (a great find of mine on black friday a year ago only $8.99!) which she is now old enough for. She loved it! I think there is definatly more music in our future! Hayden really wasn't impressed with much, but she loved the chocolate bunny she got! Sorry the pictures are out of order, don't know what I did. P.S. sorry for lack of blog updates, my computer died! I have had a long string of electronics failure lately, I don't know what the deal is.

This is Maddie and Avie, our new neighbors across the street! Maddie was student of the month too.

Sydney was student of the month this month and I a sooooo proud of her! She was over the moon. They had an assembly where the kids were recognized in front of the whole school. Pretty cool. I had to work so I wasn't able to go, but Nana made it. She had been doing so well in school. They did a kindergarten assesment and she got a 100% on it!

Stuffington Bear Factory

We went to Stuffington Bear Factory on a fieldtrip with Sydney's preschool class. What an adventure with all of those little kids. We rode on a bus, which when your 5 is pretty cool. Busses are a lot smaller than I remember. She has a blast making her bear. We had a little teddy bear education, a tour of the factory and lunch! Afterword Sydney and I had a pedicure. It was a great day with my girl!

Hayden's first trip to the dentist!

Hayden went to the dentist for the first time! It seems kind of silly to me because she has 2 teeth, but it was what the dentist recommended and she has dental insurance. She got her teeth cleaned and her mouth examined. Dr. Kelly Hildgers is the girls dentist and she is wonderful. She thinks that Hayden is going to get some top teeth next!

Sydney's Thanksgiving feast

I was lucky enough to be off for Sydney's Thanksgiving Feast at preschool this year. I was soooo happy that I got to go this year! I had to work last year and her teacher told me she cried all through lunch because I couldn't come. Talk about HUGE mommy guilt that I am still not over. It didn't help that I was very pregnant at the time either. Anyway Hayden and I met Sydney for lunch at school and it was so much fun to see her so happy. She just lit up. Her friend Taylor sat with us because her parents couldn't be there and after last year I couldn't say no! Sydney was also student of the week that week so I got to see her poster in the place of honor and we even had time for a picture with it.

So we were suppose to go to San Diego last week on October 11. We were all so excited because it has been 2 years since our last vacation. The bags were packed and loaded in the van, everything was completely paid for and then.... We had all been fighting a cold, Sydney had it the worst because of her asthma so I was a little worried about our vacation. Sydney was at the doctor a few times to try to get her asthma and an ear infection under control. I even had them check out Hayden because she was sick too and why not we were already there. Sydney was started on some new asthma medication (a round of oral steroids, Asthmanex - an inhaled steroid, increased frequency on the albuterol, and more antibiotics for the ear), and Hayden checked out fine, just an virus. Then on sunday Hayden started crawling funny and she had a fever. I kind of blew it off because she pulls herself up on everything and thought maybe she had a bruise from falling. By monday morning she was febrile for the 3rd day and would not crawl at all at this point. OK now I'm nervous. I would put her down and she tried to crawl, then just sat back down and cried. So instead of leaving at 6 am like planned I was on the phone with the on call nurse. Should we go to the ER or wait for the office to open. The not crawling thing freaked me out. The nurse said we should be ok to wait, so off to the peds we went. Now this is when I really got freaked out. The Dr was saying stuff like septic arthritis (bad joint infection requiring surgery), and a multitude of other infections that were an even higher possibility because Hayden is not up to date on her immunizations (insert a huge amount of mommy guilt here). He told us no California that he wanted to see her the next day and if her fever hit 103 or she was acting lethargic, that we needed to go to the ER. So after trying to explain things to a very disappointed 4 year old, Sydney and I went to Toys R Us to try to make up for it a little, and my mom went home with Hayden. By the time we got home an hour and a half later, Hayden's temp was 103 an hour after motrin. So off we went to the ER. By the time we got there about 45 minutes later her temp was 104.6. Wow. They were wonderful to us at PCH and we got right into a room. The doctor didn't think it was septic arthritis because kids with that are in an extreme amount of pain and Hayden was just tender on examination. Yeah! They did a bunch of labs and started an IV (3 heart wrenching pokes with her screaming with the first 2 and so worn out she slept through the 3rd). After some IV antibiotics we got to go home with a diagnosis of .....a febrile illness. Seriously. Now a week later Hayden has been back to the Dr twice more without any real answers, (she lost a pound in a week) but she is now feeling much better thankfully. What a crazy couple of weeks.

9 month update

That's right my baby is 9 months old! We went to see Dr Apley for her well check on tuesday and Miss Hayden is right on target. She is a whopping 17#15 oz (25%) and 28 in (65%). She is just growing and changing so fast that I can barely keep up. Soon she will be running after Sydney not crawling. They are just amazing together. I love it! I tried to get her 9 month pictures taken last week and Hayden wanted nothing to do with it. She is such a mama's girl and wouldn't let me put her down for the pictures. I am going to try again soon and probably take her other favorite person (aka Sydney) to help distract her. No one can make her smile like Sydney can. And yes she still has her crazy hair!

Sorry for the lack of updates! No good excuse really. Well the girls are great. Sydney is doing wonderful in school and absolutely loves it! I really hope that it continues. Hayden is a crawling machine and about a week ago started pulling herself up on EVERYTHING! I am quite terrified that she is going to walk soon. I am so not ready for that. Sydney and I haven't had much time with just the two of us lately. Between baby sister, Nana and moving there hasn't been much time. So we took some much need time out for just the two of us. We went to get pedicures (which Sydney LOVED) and then had lunch together. Sydney is such a girly girl and really got a kick out of getting her toes done. She picked out sparkly red among the hundreds of choices (I was a little nervous about some of the colors but she did great!) and she got really excited about jewels and flowers on her toes. I loved just watching her enjoy it. She is growing up so fast, I just can't believe it. I need to remember to just enjoy the little moments more.

Wild Life World Zoo and Aquarium

We went to the Aquarium yesterday and had so much fun. It was kind of expensive though because the admission included the Zoo which we skipped because it was 115 yesterday! The best part was the stingray. Sydney went from scared to touch them to feeding them. I really enjoyed watching her conquer her fears. She is such a cool kid. Hayden enjoyed it too because there were alot of colors for her to enjoy.

4th of July

My mom and I took the girls to the fireworks at Goodyear Ballpark and Sydney had a blast! She got her first cotton candy and then jumped in the bounce houses they had. We then got ice cream in preperation for the big show. There were so many people there that we decided to go out to the car to watch the fireworks. The first couple scared poor miss Hayden who was hot and overtired (the fireworks didn't start until 9:30 and she is usually asleep by 7). I had forgotten how loud they are. After the first few she got used to the noise and actually watched them. Sydney was so excited and said that it was the best day of her life. It was worth fighting the crowds and being in the heat just to see her excitement.

Half Birthday!

Today is Hayden's half birthday. Yes my baby girl has been a wonderful part of the family for 6 whole months. She is such a happy little girl and she is so much fun for all of us. We celebrated today with a photo shoot at Portrait Innovations and Hayden did so good. I was so proud of her. Sydney was at summer swim camp so that helped ;-) She has slept in her room in her crib for 4 nights in a row (a feat for both of us!) and has only woken me up once a night!!!!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me tell ya, it has been sooo hard for me to live on very little sleep for so long. I am not a spring chicken after all.

Hayden had cereal for the first time today! It was too cute. She did way better than I thought she would. I guess that is the benefit of waiting until they are older to introduce solids. Sydney really enjoyed it too. By the way we are all moved into our new house. It was a exhausting day on wednesday but we did it! We are living in a mess of boxes right now but as soon as things are at least somewhat together I will share pictures!

Preschool Gradustion 2010

Sydney graduated this week from preschool to ..... preschool! Yes we are very excited because she is now a preschool leader. Also known as we don't want to leave out the kids to young to move on to kindergarden. It was so cute, all of the kids with their little graduation caps. We got a memory book that her teachers made. They had projects that she had done over the year and also assessments from the beginning to the end of the year to show how much she has learned. Her teachers are wonderful and Sydney is lucky enough to have Mrs. Arriaga again next year. They are both moving to a brand new school right down the street from our new house.

5 months!

My sweet baby is 5 months old today. My how time flies! Hayden looks so much like Sydney especially when she sleeps. The girls took their first bath together today and had a blast (me not so much, wet wiggley baby who can't sit up yet is hard to keep a hold of in the tub! We won't be repeating that experience again anytime soon.) The both love the water so much. I can't wait to take Hayden swimming this summer.

4 month update

So Hayden had her 4 month well check last week and she is doing great! She is 13#6 and 25 inches long. She is a rolling machine and has really started using her hands. Her toes are pretty cool too! She smiles all of the time and drools all over every thing including her sister (she happens to think it's pretty gross but still loves all over her). I have decided to delay vaccinations with her until 6 months and her doctor was supportive of my decision. She will get one vaccine a month after she turns 6 months. We will see what happens. Funny little side note though, the Tylenol I have her before her seizure was just recalled for the concentration being wrong. Makes you wonder. Now Sydney on the other hand has had a really rough month. We have all been sick for months and she has had this persistant horrible cough that would not go away. I pretty much chalked it up to a virus until Kayleigh (my friends 3 year old for those of you who don't know her) was hospitalized for RAD (restrictive airway disease - or what they call an asthma flare for those who have not been officially diagnosed). She learned that one of the top signs of asthma is persistant cough. So I started wondering if all of this coughing was something more than just a lingering cough from the 3 colds we had in 2 months. So I finally took her to the doctor and low and behold she was diagnosed with asthma. She was started on singulair and after no improvement her doctor added an allergy med which also didn't help. So last saturday she got really bad, I took her to urgent care. The doctor there started her on a round of steroids which we finished on wednesday. She also now has an inhaler for when the cough gets bad. So 2 doctor visits an 1 trip to urgent care I think she is on the mend. Hopefully with the inhaler I can nip her cough in the bud before she gets to the point she was last weekend. Thank goodness for insurance because I paid $200 for copays and perscriptions in a week and a half for her. Imagine what it would have been. Oh and in other news we bought a new house!!!!!!! It is in Goodyear and right down the street from a brand new elementary school in the Litchfield School District. We close on the 20th and will probably move the first week in June! It is 3000 square feet which is double what we have now! We will actually have room! I will put up pictures when I get some.

Well just so you know I took these pictures so I didn't spend a dime! I took some cute pictures of Sydney with bunny ears when she was a baby so I had to do the same with Hayden and then she was in such a good mood that we did a couple of outfit changes! The story behind the onsie is that they are actually Sydney's footprints when she was a baby. I made the onsie for my friend Kristi at her baby shower for her first baby Corbin. Then her second baby Keeley also wore it then it was passed on to Hayden! It actually says Sydney's best friend on it. She was about 7 months old when I made it. It is a special treasure for many reasons that I will keep forever!

Nana and Sydney colored easter eggs while I slept because Hayden was sick and I never sleep well when one of them is sick. Sweet Hayden is officially 3 months old! She is trying so hard to talk, smiling up a storm and just this week started to giggle! I love it when she looks at me with a big gummy smile that is just for me. She is really starting to interact with Sydney. She watched her all of the time and Sydney will talk or sing to her and she gives more of her beautiful smiles. She is finally sleeping in her crib (a big step for mama!) and actually slept 6 whole glorious hours last night. She is so sweet and just brings so much joy to our family.

Sydney is so silly sometimes. The picture of her is from swimming lessons yesterday. Today we were discussing here career asperations (they had career day at school recently) and she told me that she wants to be an ice cream scooper (what can I say we love Baskin Robins) or an ice skating princess. It is good to have goals for your life ;) Hayden is doing wonderful. Totally back to normal after her crazyness in the last couple of weeks. I am so relieved and grateful! After I picked Sydney we were talking about her day as we always do. I was telling her that Hayden went to the babysitter for the first time today. She is going to a place that one of Sydney's school friends little brother goes to (Quinn). Sydney said that Hayden should marry Quinn and that she is going to marry Brock and Michael and Steven and Ryan and Billy and Tristen and of course Carter. Wow. I better start working those extras to pay for all the weddings! I can't believe that this has already begun at 4!!!!!!!

Hayden update

Hayden's EEG was NORMAL!! The neurologist thinks it was a reaction to the vaccines and the fever. He says it may happen again. If she begins to have seizures without fever then we can worry. Yeah!! I am so relieved. Thanks everyone for all the prayers and positive vibes.

This is what I was working on yesterday afternoon before everything went to hell!

Hayden is growing like a weed, cooing and smiling like crazy. If I wasn't completely in love with her already, having her look me right in the eyes and give me a huge gummy smile, that would do it! We went to the pediatritian today and she was 10# 8 ounces (50%) and 23.5 inches long (90%!).She is such a wonderful baby and I feel so very blessed that she joined our family.

Hayden got her 2 month shots, she slept for a while and when she woke up around 2:30 I could tell she wasn't feeling good. About an hour later she started getting a fever. I didn't take it because her doctor said that giving tylenol for low grade temps after immunizations can interfere with antibody formation. That's why she got the shots in the first place right? I could tell it wasn't very high then so I just went with it. Then around 6 pm she started getting really warm. I took her temp then and it was 102.4. 10 minutes later it was 102.6 so I gave her tylenol at around 6:30. 10 minutes later it was 103. OK I am starting to not like this so much but she just got shots so I kind of expected it. Then at about 7 she had a seizure. It took me a minute to figure out what was going on. She went completely stiff with her head turned to the right and her eyes rolled back to the right. It lasted for about 2 minutes. I just looked up at my mom and said I think she is having a seizure. I was holding her when it happened. She was non responsive for about 20 minutes afterward. Talk about scary. My nurse self was warring with my mommy self. Mommy - Should I call 911? Nurse - no it is just a febrile seizure, kids get them all the time but you should call the doctor. So I did. She said because of her age she need to be seen in the ER. So off I went to Phoenix Children's Hospital. My mom had to stay home with Sydney. I got to PCH around 8:45 where I would bet money that I was the only one in the room that had to pay for insurance. My wonderful friend Kristi showed up at about 10 and I think we got into a room about 10:30. Because of Hayden's age they take the fever and seizure very seriously. So they checked her urine and blood for infection and I knew what was coming next. A spinal tap to check for meningitis. Sydney went through the same thing when she was a baby. I had it in my head that I was going to refuse it. She had shots today right? It just has to be a febrile seizure. Then the Dr came in the room and said that febrile seizures are very rare in babies Hayden's age. That meningitis and an underlying seizure disorder was more common. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, meningitis can kill babies - that was the first thing I thought. A seizure disorder would be horrible but meningitis kills. She was just so lethargic and really not the same baby. So I let them do the spinal tap. I wouldn't let them do it without me there though - they kicked me out for Sydney's. I don't know what was worse being there or not. So we both cried. Kristi stayed with us for all of this. I wouldn't have made it through all of that without her! Thank you Kristi! Everything thankfully came back normal (of course it did right, she had shots!!!!) We were discharged about 4 am. She has to follow up with a neurologist to make sure that she doesn't have a seizure disorder. What a night. Hayden seems much better this morning. She is smiling again. Thank you to all of my facebook friends and all their prayers, I really appreciate it!!!!

We decided to take the girls to Portrait Innovations today to attempt pictures again. Not only because things didn't go so well (just got the proofs and there are a few good ones thanks to Brittany's skills) but because my mom wanted portrait pictures of Hayden. Hayden was still fussy but Sydney did an amazing job and we managed to get some great pictures! We only had one minor problem when Sydney got lip gloss on her pants on the way there. Thankfully you couldn't tell!

So my day started out great! 3 am and Hayden woke up to eat for the first time of the night. So I got 6 straight hours of sleep! I don't think I have gotten 6 hours since conception. So I was feeding Hayden and about 3:15 Sydney comes in my room to go to the bathroom. She pees and goes back to bed. No big deal, maybe she will sleep longer since she peed early, right? She has had a little cold for the past week and a half and had a cough with it. So I hear her coughing so I went into her room to give her some more cough medicine. I opened the door and got blasted with the smell of puke. Sydney had thrown up earlier in the night and it was all over her bed, hot dog chunks and all. Poor thing coughed so hard she puked and didn't tell me. Poor baby. So in she goes with me because really who wants to clean that up at 3am. So we tossed and turned the rest of the night which came to an end when Hayden wanted breakfast at 6. So we were up for the day. Sydney was doing much better up and around so I decided brilliant mom that I am to go ahead with the plan I have had for weeks to get family pictures done. Things are going great until my mom lost Hayden's headband that I bought especially for pictures. So postpartum sleep deprived me freaked out and ran around like a maniac trying to find the stupid headband (which we haven't found yet). We ran out of the house (with me in a fabulous mood ;) to Tempe where we were meeting the photographer Brittney. So things are fine and I am starting to calm down and Sydney starts coughing really hard again. Guess what happens next! That's right she pukes again twice all over her picture outfit (thankfully I only had the leggings and tee shirt on so her dress wouldn't get wrinkled) and the car seat! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Can this day be any better. Oh wait it can. We get to Tempe I strip down Sydney give her a diaper wipe once over and put on her sleeveless dress that now has no leggings or long sleeve shirt (it's cold and we are outside) and start with the pictures. My sweet baby Hayden proceeded to cry through about 95% of the pictures. I am sure the pictures are going to be wonderful! Hopefully we will at least get one family picture for my $100.

My sweet baby Hayden is 6 weeks old today. She is getting so big already. I am really trying to enjoy every moment with her because I know how fast it goes. She is such a good baby. I am so lucky. She really only crys when I first put her in the carseat or when she wants to be held. When she is hungry she just kicks her legs, grunts and smacks her lips. It is the cutest thing!

That's right my baby is 4. I can't believe it. Time sure fly's when you are having fun! Sydney went to preschool in her birthday clothes (very exciting let me tell you) and my mom and I brought cupcakes in at the end of the day. She just lit up when everyone in her class sang Happy Birthday to her. It was so cute! It was also the 100th day of school so all the kids got together with 100 glasses to celebrate. After school we went to swimming lessons then out to dinner. It was a great day for everyone. At least until the sugar overload kicked in and she turned into a crazy girl. Thank goodness it was late enough for bed!

Hayden had her ultrasound of her hips today and from what the tech said her hips are perfect! They did not dislocate at all when the tech manipulated them. Yeah!!! She is doing wonderful and growing like a weed! I think she has gained a pound in the last week, alot of it in her cheeks. She looks like a different baby with some meat on her bones. Oh and by the way 4 years ago right now I was in labor with Sydney! Yes my baby is going to be 4 tomorrow.

Hayden is doing wonderful. We went to the doctor on Wednesday for her 2 week check up. She weighed 6#14 and was 20.5 inches long. She is 7 ounces above her birth weight which is perfect. Dr. Apley did notice a hip click in her right hip and with the history of her being breech she wants her to have an ultrasound of her hips. She really thinks that everything will turn out normal but wants it done as a precautionary measure. She will have that done when she is 4 weeks old. Sydney is still so good with her but she is driving me and my mom crazy! She is very whiny and demanding. I really think most of it is because she is bored. I am really glad for all of our sakes that school starts again on Monday! I took some pictures of the girls the other day and I think they turned out pretty good.

Sydney's preschool did a Christmas program that was so cute! I of course think that she was the cutest (I am not biased at all ;) They practiced so hard and I really didn't want to miss it so about 14 hours after Hayden and I got out of the hospital we went to the program. I was nervous about bringing my brand new baby to a preschool classroom but she stayed in her car seat and no one was allowed to touch her. It was so worth it and I am really glad I got to go. You will have to excuse the bad video camera operator (me, I really stink at it). Jamie you will really appreciate this!

My sweet baby Hayden McKenna arrived on Wednesday December 16 at 10:09 PM. She weighed 6 pounds 7 ounces and is 19.5 inches long. I had a wonderful labor and delivery and was blessed to have my very good friend Kristen there as my nurse and one of my favorite residents Sarah deliver her. Of course my mom was there too! I really couldn't have asked for anything more. We got to the hospital around 3pm and was contracting every 3 minutes and was pretty uncomfortable. Got an epidural about an hour after we got there. Another of my friends Kristia took great care of us until Kristen arrived. Sarah broke my water and I hung out at 5 cm for a while. When Hayden decided to come though she didn't waste any time. Sarah came in to check on me and I was 8 cm, so she went to brush her teeth so she had nice fresh breath when I delivered. She couldn't even finish brushing her teeth before Hayden decided it was time. I pushed for 2 contractions and out she came. My doctor (Dr. Erickson) didn't even make it in time! Hayden is a wonderful baby and Sydney can't get enough of her. She is being so gentle and loving with her. I am so blessed with my 2 beautiful healthy girls. They are all I have ever dreamed of and so much more.

P.S. Thank you to Nerissa and Bryan for taking care of Sydney for me. To know that she was having a blast at your house helped me so much. I can never really thank you enough for that. Love you lots!!!!

We went to the mall yesterday to see Santa. Yes I know that it is a little early but I didn't want to take a chance on Sydney missing out with all the baby stuff to come. We waited in line for all of 5 minutes, yes I said 5 minutes. Sydney got a really cute picture and actually got to sit on Santa's lap and talk to him for a few minutes. It wasn't the assembly line of kids being rushed through. I know she loved it but I couldn't stop smiling watching her. My heart just melted listening to her talk to him. I have to say that I am blessed in this life with the friends that I have made. I had brunch on Saturday with some of my favorite people to celebrate Hayden. Jamie and Kate, Kristi, Annie, Nerissa and Giada and of course my mom were all there. We met at The Farm at South Mountain. It was a beautiful day, great food and even better company. The girls got me the high chair I wanted and some big sister jammies for the big sister (she has been wearing them since yesterday!) They also gave me a Target gift card and I finally got some belly shots! I will be 32 weeks on Monday and am so grateful to have made this milestone. Thanks girls for celebrating my baby with me!

Halloween!!!!

Sydney was Supergirl, something she picked out herself. We got a costume magazine in the mail and saw it and had to have it. When we went to pick it up it was like I handed her the moon she was so excited which more than made for my slight disappointment in her choice. It actually ended up being super cute (haha) and even more special because it is the first costume that she picked out herself. We were invited over to my friends Erica and Keiran's house for Halloween festivities. We had a blast. Good food, good people, great neighborhood for trick-or-treating. Everyone was sitting out in their driveways handing out chocolate. That's right folks Sydney got a whole bucket full of only the good stuff after going around the block. There was even a house with a HUGE pirate ship. I felt like I was at Disneyland in the Pirates of the Caribbean it was so amazing.

So sorry for the lack of updates! I pretty much have enough energy to work and lay on the couch. Anyway Sydney got her school pictures done about a month ago and we finally got them. I think it turned out pretty cute, especially since the brilliant people who scheduled the pictures thought it would be a good idea to do the preschoolers at noon. Yes at noon, after they had played for 4 hours and had lunch! Whatever. On the baby front, she is getting bigger and bigger and along with my belly so are my butt and thighs. Ugggg! Oh well what do you do. I have been having alot of regular contractions, but was thankfully blessed with a cervix of steel. We are all starting to get really excited to meet this little girl. She just needs to stay put for at least 7 more weeks.

An early morning conversation and random updates

Sometimes the conversations I have with Sydney just floor me. I have no idea where she comes up with some of the things she says. This is one we had on Friday morning before school.

Me: What kind of sandwich do you want in your lunch today, turkey or peanut butter and jelly?
Sydney: I want peanut butter and the jelly that looks like blood.
Me: The jelly that looks like blood? I guess that means strawberry!

Seriously.

Sydney also went to the dentist on Wednesday and she did an amazing job. She sat so still while they cleaned and examined her teeth. I was very proud of her. She also got to tell the dentist that she doesn't suck her thumb anymore. That's right folks! After about 2 months of wearing thumb guards and lots of tears we have broken the thumb habit!!!!!!!!!!! She got to pick out a special prize and got a lot of praise from everyone at the dentists office.

For obvious reasons we are a little obsessed with babies and pregnant tummies at our house. I took this one this morning after Sydney saw some adorable baby scrubs that my sweet and very generous friend Nerissa got for Hayden as a viability gift (24 weeks is a big milestone in our labor and delivery world). Thanks Rissy for everything! Don't you just love the expression on her face! She is toooo funny.

Look what Sydney did last night! She decided to see what happened when she rammed her face into the corner of my dresser. Talk about drama! She has a pretty deep puncture as well as a lovely bruise. This happened after I spent all day in ACLS and was in desperate need of some study time. So much for that. It was pretty funny this morning when I was getting her ready for school she looked in the mirror and started crying because she wanted me to make her black eye go away. She didn't like how it looked! I am also including some much cuter pictures from the last couple of weeks! On the baby front, Hayden is growing and moving like crazy and I'm feeling pretty good.

I had my ultrasound today and everything is perfect with baby Hayden (yes that's her name unless I change my mind ;) It is confirmed that she is really a girl yeah! She has everything she is suppose to and it's all in the right place. She is 9 ounces right now and is measuring right on for her age. The poor ultrasound tech though because she was moving all over the place and made it difficult to get all the pictures she needed. I am so relieved that everything is OK with her. My risk of downs syndrome is now down to 1 and 15,000. Thanks Dr. Freeman for taking care of us! Now she just needs to grow and stay in there until at least 38 weeks!

So I was downstairs watching tv and Sydney was upstairs doing the same. Or so I thought! She came downstairs with a huge goofy grin on her face. She of course got in trouble for coloring all over her body! She looked at me with eyes full of tears and said "But momma, I just wanted to make you laugh". I of course then felt bad for yelling at her and it really was pretty funny. So a few hugs and kisses later everything was right in the world again. I just had to take some pictures of her. She also promised to only color on paper from now on.

Well I did it, I actually survived Sydney's first day of preschool and I am lonely! My house is so quiet right now. I know I will learn to appreciate having time to myself but right now I really miss her! We got up at 6:00, ate breakfast, got all dolled up and off we went. Sydney was soooooo excited to go to real preschool. It was so surreal going to a school and dropping off my kid. Weird! She asked my as we were walking through the parking lot if I was going to cry. She told me that she didn't want me to cry. I said I would try really hard not to but if I did they were going to be happy tears for her. She was ok after that. We found her classroom and she ditched me immediately to play with the kids. I stayed for about 30 minutes (obviously for my sake not hers). My little social butterfly was sitting in circle time when I blew her a kiss and left. I got a little misty as I was walking away from her but I think I did pretty good. I really am excited for her, she is going to learn so much and have so much fun. But I feel like this is the beginning of me not being the center of her universe and I know I am not ready for that! Great, now I really am crying. Oh well I almost made it.

Sydney starts preschool on Monday! Real live actual preschool through the Litchfield School District. My mom got a job as a school nurse there and because of that Sydney got a spot even though it is not the district we live in. It is all day 5 days a week (yes a little tear for mom, don't know if I am ready for this). I think she is ready, I am a little concerned about it being 5 days a week, so I will see how she does. So in preperation for school I took Sydney to the salon where I get my hair cut and paid way to much for a kid cut. It was worth the extra $20 for my piece of mind though. I haven't had her hair cut in over a year because I was scared it was going to get screwed up (bad experience in the past). I love her beautiful red curls! After her hair cut Kristi and Carter met us at the mall for some serious spending. I did get everything I bought on sale (huge going out of business sale at Pumpkin Patch that I hit up today as well, can you say ouch!) Anyway here are pictures of my girl and her new do.

I have been so bad about blogging! Sorry. I will try to be better. So the last post left off with the less than excited response to Sydney becoming a big sister. Well the very next day I think it sunk in. She is so excited about baby sister (she's ok if she turns into a baby brother too) She talks to the baby all of the time, hugs and kisses my belly. Even when I am at work and call her she talks to baby sister. I am so happy she is so excited. Though the reality of an actual baby will be interesting to watch. She loves kids and babies so I think she will adjust pretty well.
We went to a couple of daycare centers yesterday to try to find preschool for her. There are pretty slim pickings in that area around here so we have no choice but go the daycare route. Sydney was so exciting (her words) about preschool and can't wait to start. One of the schools we toured had all the kids in a classroom and Sydney just joined right in. She sat down at the table like she belonged. When I told her it was time to go she was so sad that she started crying. She didn't want to leave! I think she is past ready for preschool and will do wonderful in that environment. Anyway here are some recent pictures of her!

Healthy baby GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!! Unless of course she grows a penis in the next few weeks. I am so happy that so far the baby is healthy! Because of my age I was really worried and am still not totally out of the woods. I will get blood test results next week and then I will go from there to see if I need further screening. A big thanks to the Freeman's for watching Sydney during my ultrasound! Speaking of Sydney I told her that she is going to be a big sister and it was pretty anticlimactic! My mom and I stopped and got her a new doll and she was way more interested in that than becoming a big sister. I think it will be more real for her when she can feel her move. I know it's been a while since I updated my blog but I have a good excuse. Sydney is going to be a big sister. Yup, I'm pregnant! I am so excited but have not been feeling great, hence the lack of blog updating. I am due on January 4th. (p.s. if you see us out and about, Sydney doesn't know about the baby yet. I plan to tell her after my nuchal scan in a couple of weeks) My mom moved in with me a couple of weeks ago (a situation that benefits both of us) and has been so helpful. Poor Sydney was getting ignored because mom really wasn't up to much more that laying on the couch. So to combat the summer heat and lack of mom motivation Sydney has been going to swim camp 3 days a week at her swim school. She looooovvvveeeeesssss it! Last week was Hawaiian week so they made hula skirts, leis and a cute little surf board with her name on it. They also taught the kids how to do a Hawaiian dance. Along with the crafts and other fun she gets an extra hour of swimming lessons 3 days a week. She is turning into a little fish! I am so proud of her.

So last night when I went in to check on Sydney before I went to bed and this is what she said. She was half asleep and I pulled her covers back up (I don't know why I bother, she never keeps them on) and I leaned down to kiss and hug her. She gave me a big kiss and said "momma, you stink. Go take a shower" then she rolled over and went back to sleep. Oh, it was so funny, and the honesty of kids is sometimes brutal! Needless to say I went and brushed my teeth! This morning she got up at the ungodly hour of 6:15 (yes I am spoiled and used to her sleeping until 7:30 or 8) and crawled into bed with me. She snuggled up to me and I told her I love you, Sydney. She said "I know you do momma, I love you too". I guess I am doing something right.

The Easter bunny arrived on schedule at our house on Sunday morning. She left an Easter basket full of goodies that we all enjoyed. Sydney really had fun finding all of the eggs that she hid for her. All the eggs were full of candy that we all ate too much of. Next year I think that the Easter bunny needs to plan a little better and get other things besides candy to put in Sydney's eggs ;)!

We went to my dads house on Friday evening. Diann's parents were here for a visit and wanted to see Sydney. She always has so much fun when we go over there. She has a big back yard to play in and dogs to chase. She got to play with bubbles (which the dogs loved) and luckily I had my camera. I got some really fun pictures of them.

We went to the zoo on wednesday. It was a beautiful day of sun and fun with some of my favorite people. I have to say though that there is not alot of looking at animals when we go to the zoo. There is conversation, great excercize, lots of playing and usually a melt down or two. This time we stopped at a favorite play spot for the kids and got an unexpected surprise. This little area is a "cave" with stairs and slides is actually a splash park! Very exciting. It is not expected to open until april but they were testing it when we were there. So all of us were unprepared for the water fun. The kids didn't care however. They ran right in no problem. Sydney promptly decided that clothes were not necessary and stripped down to her underwear. She would have even ditched those if I let her. "I don't want to wear them momma, they are wet!" Who can argue with the logic of a 3 year old.

So I took my video camera to Sydney's swimming lessons today to hopefully get some good video of her swimming. No such luck there, she wasn't listening very well and was kind of naughty (note to self, the kid needs a nap before swimming)! Sydney got a Disney Princess CD for her birthday that we listen to in the car ALL OF THE TIME. She was singing all the songs on the way home from swimming and I thought it was a perfect opportunity to capture some of it since I so handily had my video camera with me. Sydney got a new bike from some of my very generous friends. She was so excited when she opened it. I took her to the park for her first official ride on her birthday. She had a hard time cuz mom put boots on her (silly) then got distracted by the slide. Last night she started riding it in the living room and is getting the hang of pedaling. Now we need to work on steering! She also went to her very first movie on her birthday. Unfortunately the movie we wanted to see was canceled so I had to take her to a non-animated movie that she really didn't get into. I was just going to leave and try again but she was so excited to go into the movies that I just couldn't disappoint her. She did really well until she got full on popcorn, then she did not want to stay in her seat. Then she had to go to the bathroom so we just left after that. It was a fun day of firsts for my 3 year old, and especially for her mom to watch her reach those milestones.

Three years ago today I met the love of my life. I am so greatful that I was lucky enough to have her. I think all children are miracles but I just know that Sydney and I were meant to be. She is my little princess and my whole reason for being on this earth! Now enough with the mushy stuff. Because Sydney is a princess, we had a princess party with her on Sunday. It was at The Little Gym and was the funest kid party I have ever been to. Also the easiest! I showed up with a cake, the presents and the kid. There were 2 teachers and all the kids got a private class and had an absolute blast. I ran around taking pictures like a crazy person. Then we opened presents and had cupcakes and we were done. Sydney had so much fun with all her friends and got some amazing presents too! Thanks everyone!

I really can't believe that my baby is 3. I miss her being so little and sweet. But this little person that is emerging from my baby is hilarious. She says the funnies things. She is very much into singing and dancing and reading books right now. And of course anything princess. I need to remember when I get frustrated and she is driving me crazy that she is not going to be little for long. She is my Little Wonder. Sadly I have to remind my self to slow down and enjoy her. It has already gone so fast and I really want to enjoy this precious time in our lives. The times where mommy is the most important person in the whole world. I know the time will come in the not so distant future that she won't want much to do with me, as she grows and her friends become the most important people in her world. That will be a sad sad day for me because she will always be my whole world. Here are some of my favorite pictures of us together. Week of Sydney - Day 6

We had our second trip to the ER before Sydney was 1. She was at the babysitter and hit her head while she was playing in a playhouse (so her x-babysitter says anyway). I went to pick her up after work and the whole left side of her head was bruised. I of course freaked out and drove her over to Bryan and Nerissa's in a panic. Bryan thought it looked like superficial bruising but I, the glass half empty person that I am immediately thought brain bleed, seizure, coma, death. I know I tend to over react when it comes to Sydney. Being an nurse is really not an advantage for me, I think it just makes me freak out even more when things happen. So off we went to the ER. Nerissa had to work the next day so she called Tucker who came and sat with me in the ER for HOURS. What a friend!!! Everything ended up being fine (so the doctor said after about 2 minutes total time in the room with us.) He was right, and I had calmed down a little by then. So the worst we got was a horrible bruise and then a week later bronchitis!(Thanks to all the germy little kids running around in the waiting room - they clearly needed to be there as they were actually running). These pictures don't really do it justice. She was bruised from her forehead to her earlobe to the back of her neck. Poor baby. Actually poor mommy because Sydney really didn't care.
